Albert, I spoke with you at RMAF about the Remake of the VR-3 speaker. You had mentioned it would be ready by Jan 2010? Any update on this speaker would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Albert, it is good to know what's happening with CES and the reduction in the number of manifacturers participating.

We are enjoying your fabulous creations  :thumb: ( I know I do and everyone that listens to my system in Greece feels amazed by the combination of the EmmLabs, Gryphon and VR5's !!)

A RESOLUTION
Albert and I had a good 30 minute conversation this afternoon to clear the air, which we did successfully.  He has agreed to help me do the V-Cap upgrade to my 7s to provide the detail, etc. that I am missing at lower volumes in the upper registers.  Thank you again Jack D.

I appreciate the assistance of all the posters on this thread, especially Jack D, in helping me resolve my issues.  I may have come off as a bit strident here at times, but that was out of a bunch of frustration (and tiredness from CES) and certainly not out of any malice towards Albert or VSA.  Albert was, is and will continue to be a buddy and a friend, and I appreciate his help and assistance.

Jack D -
I believe you said you REPLACED the Hovlands with the V-Caps.  Albert said it was a case of PIGGYBACKING the V-Caps WITH the Hovlands, and that's what he's advising me to do.  Did you mean what Albert said, or something else?  Also, how long before the speakers sounded better and did they sound worse, or the same, before they sounded better?

Thanks again.

Hi FP,

Piggybacking would be the economical way. It would also be easier for as long as a schematic is provided. You should get all the gains of a replacement aside from some added energy storage keeping the Hovlands in place.

My 9s weren't modded so no replacement. They were spec'd with V-caps on ALL tweeters from the get go. All 9s and 11s headed for us are spec'd this way because of how delighted we were with the 5s. Costs a mint but well worth it at least according to our tastes. Some folks prefer Mundorf but we like Vs because our sources and amplification are ever so slightly on the pretty side of natural like VAC incidentally :) We've gone on to put V-Cap TFTFs everywhere like our toy flea power SET amps and I even have an LSA Integrated ready to get all the auricaps replaced just for fun hmmmm maybe I'll do riken carbon resistors as well  :icon_twisted:

I'm glad you and Albert worked things out by the way :)

No need to thank me man, that's what we're all here at AC for.... to further each other's fun, dealer or not.

Cheers!

Jack D
