Bi-Wire binding Post
« on: 5 Jan 2010, 08:09 pm »

I have a question concerning the Bi-Wired binding Posts on my HT2-Tl’s.
I assume the upper posts are for the high frequency and the lower are provided for low frequency. Assume that I wish to provide power to these high and low post by means of two amplifiers. For example if I wished to use a SS amp for the low frequency and tube amp for the high frequency.

Are the high frequency posts only driving the ribbon tweeter and the low posts driving the two-W-18 only? Or are the circuits actually more complex maybe a mixture depending on the crossover? How does using the Bi-wire post effect impedances?

Yes.

To maintain the proper balance between tweeter and woofers, both amplifiers would need to have the same gain or have adjustable level controls on the amplifier with the greater gain.

As far as impedances varying for high and low inputs versus the nominal 4 ohm impedance for the entire speaker, you would have to ask Jim or Dennis.
