Just starting out...
« on: 31 Dec 2009, 02:37 am »
Hello all,

I decided to move my computer to my listening room and hooked it up to my stereo.  I have all of my CD's ripped to the hdd already in WMA lossless format.  The SC is a Soundblaster X-FI and I have a 3.5mm -> RCA cable connected from the SC to my integrated.  It sounds OK but honestly does not keep up with CD's which are played through a modest OPPO 980H DVD player.

Just wondering if there are any tweaks, etc. I should know about to get the most out of this setup.  I will most likely add an external DAC at some point.  The run from the computer to the stereo is about 20'.  If I get an external DAC, is that too far for a USB run?  I would assume it would be better to do the long run with the digital cable rather than the analog.

All suggestions welcome!!!
