Anyone know Sony designations
« on: 27 Dec 2009, 12:38 am »
I am looking at the Sony 52" Bravia W Series HDTV and can not figure out the difference from a 4100 model and the 5100 or the 5015. Is there someone out there that can explain? I have looked through a lot of sites trying to figure this one out and have failed. Has anyone viewed the difference between 120HZ and 240HZ? While one salesperson says you won't tell the difference another says you will.

Don't know much about the TVs but here's some info about refresh rates:  http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/refresh-rate.htm/printable

I recently bought a SONY 46" at 120hz...all the folks I spoke to and read say anything over 120HZ is overkill. I couldn't tell the difference when trying out 2 sets, that said I could tell 120HZ was better than 60HZ...I could see that. For me it was 52" at 60HZ or 46" at 120HZ...I went 46" and I love it. Mine is now an older model- KDL 46V5100....good luck!!
Just a footnote...just about every "Artist" or professional media type I ever met in my years of drumming had a SONY TV. :) I love mine!!

4100 2008 model
5100 2009 model

I think the major difference is 5100 has Bravia link which allows you to network your TV.  I do this wirelessly.

I have the Z4100, last year's model, with Bravia link.  TV automatically downloads newest driver.  It can also play files off my PC although very limited in type of files it can play.
