Minor Changes at the Gateway Audio Society

Hiya Guys,

Just wanted to let you all know that we've got a minor change happening at GAS. Due to my workload I'm going to be turning over the reigns of GAS to Bob (in StL).

As you can see from my amounts of posts over the last year or so, I've been pretty much inactive. After a small group of us got GAS going a number of years ago, I manned the helm. Unfortunately I've not been able to keep up trying to encourage people to host gatherings, post pictures of the event and keep the group going.

In turn after talking to some of the founders, we've decided to turn the helm over to Bob who will (no doubt) do a stellar job as Capo. With your cooperation, Bob will be encouraging everyone to make public offerings to host periodic gatherings then post pics of the events. Since we've had a recent influx of new members, we really need to capitalize on this opportunity to make GAS grow and continue to get stronger.

As for me, I'm going nowhere. I'll still be here. Christmas in September will still be the do all, end all GAS event (next to the upcoming Zu in St Lou event). It's just time to turn things over to some one with more time and enthusiasm.

So join me in welcoming Bob as our new Capo di tutti capi  :thumb:

Thanks for everything Scott.  You've been a great leader.  I hate it when work gets in the way of fun.

Anyway, hail to the new chief.

Many thanks Scott, you've done a great job getting us from being half dozen lost souls to the thriving group that we are now. Many thanks also to Laura who has always been at your side assisting you.
Thanks to Bob for being willing to step up to the plate.

Scott,
It was your invitation to my Jacksonville Bob and I to visit you, that was the tipping point to start him back into a hobby he always loved.
I am at the airport in Salt Lake, then to Denver, and then St. Louis for the holidays.  Jacksonville, Il, Bob can't wait to show me his new audio toys: Jolida cd player, Xindac integrated amp, Legacy Classics, and on the small system, Spica Angelus speakers.
All due to you, Scott!
Lyndon
Love those heat sinks on the Xindac

Hey Scott, thanks for the years of work manning the helm over the years and giving us the guidance and energy to make this bunch a fine working group of parts that got us doing a buncha stuff!  Likewise, thanks to Laura for keeping you healthy and sane enough at the same time.
All this being said, welcome Bob!  The job *won't* do anything to your hair, but it will keep you looking the robust 30 years Scott boasts.  :icon_lol:
All kidding aside, thanks for taking things on, Bob.
Here's looking to future fun together for all of us!

Best Regards,
DeadFish

Thanks for your many years of service at the helm of the GAS ship, Scott. Its been a lot of fun and brought together a great group of people. Thanks to Laura also for putting up with us all these years with grace and aplomb! Welcome to the helm Bob. I'm sure you'll do a fine job.

Scott,
Thank you so much for making GAS what it is.  My audiophilia had pretty much wound down over the last few decades and finding out about GAS last year put it back in gear and made me enjoy the hobby again.  I've met so many wonderful people, I hope I can get my system in better shape and host a get together myself some time in 2010.
Thank you also for you great hospitality.  The Christmas in September was memorable.
Bob,
Your cretivity and enthusiasm for home theatre will be a great asset to the club.  I look forward to GAS with a great future.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys.

As I mentioned, I'm not going anywhere. We'll still be hosting Christmas in September and who knows, as Bob starts organizing us better and getting more gatherings hosted, maybe we'll step up and do another gathering (or so) a year. Those will probably be smaller events and more focused....on what I'm not sure, but it would probably be contained to the Blue Room. I sorta like the idea of hard core classic vinyl nights, you know, the obscure Classic Rock  :thumb:

Speaking of which, if anybody wants to buzz out between now and the first of the year, I'm on vacation. If you vinyl junkies are interested in giving it a listen, I picked up a Soundsmith rebuilt Dynavector cartridge that does some pretty cool things.

Hey Lyndon, are you coming to town this holiday season? If you and Bob want to come by again, we could spin some more vinyl  :thumb:

Anyway, ALL HAIL BOB  :notworthy:

Thanks fellas.
Now that we have some "younger blood" in here, we can REALLY begin to party.  :peek:
Just kidding. Scott has done an admirable job. I'll have a hard time filling his shoes.

Hey Scott- enjoy the new cartridge. I think my new Zu is about broken in.  :thumb:
