Abba in Rock Hall of fame?

Abba has recently been added to the rock hall of fame.

I think Abba was a great band in its day. But I never considered it rock, more like folk music. Isn't there a hall of fame for folk music? That's where they belong, don't you think, along with Stompin' Tom, Burl Ives and Patsy Cline?

I sure wouldn't consider them folk (I like folk :D), and Patsy Cline, c'mon she WAS Country. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are a pretty diverse group. Etta James and Miles come to mind. :o

I don't agree that Abba was a great anything...  a mediocre bubble gum band at best. Hall of Fame?????  They would be mostly forgotten if not for the chick flick musical "Momma Mia".

And why would you be concerned or even bother noticing when said Hall of fame does not include Jethro Tull or Humble Pie?

The whole scene is just laughable to me!

At one time they accounted for some unbelievable percentage of Sweden's GDP. I forget the exact number but it was staggering.

Anyone else remember this better than I?

Well, Yes, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer plus a whole bunch of others aren't in there, but that skank Madonna is.

Here is the list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rock_and_Roll_Hall_of_Fame_inductees

Hall of Fame is a dumb choice for a name. Better would perhaps be Music Museum. Hall of Fame suggests tops at their craft (R&R). Looking at the list of inductees and ones missing this is certainly not true.

ABBA is the best. I am an ABBA freak. Have all the records and CD's and the boxed CD German singles compilation. I have instructed my family that if I am in a coma on a respirator and I do not respond to ABBA, they should just pull the plug.

I hear that rockdanny! Great avatar by the way.

Cause if rock n roll has anything to do with it, Sting couldn't carry Steve Marriot's jock.
