Hi everyone,
Can this one use with my turntable?
http://www.project-audio.com/main.php?prod=speedboxse&cat=boxes&lang=en

As far as I know, Pro-ject spec. 3 watt max AC output but 300 rpm 115v. Hurst on VPI
spec. input 7.5 watt

What I'm using now is battery ----> DC/AC pure sine wave converter ----> Scout motor
Is my set up is a good solution? (I live in 220v country) or.....

Any recommendation for motor controller of VPI Scout master with limited budget?
SDS is the good one but it far out of my budget.  :?

Regards,
Mart

The VPI motor is by Hurst and VPI used both 300 and 600 RPM. The 600 RPM motor will have the smaller pulley. I have no idea what Pro-ject uses for motors, but if they ain't the same, don't use the speed box. The only real gain I can see is that you can change speed with the box. I doubt if your VPI platter speed will benefit, and could actually make things worse, IMO.

The Speed Box does more than just change speed.  It uses some sort of quartz clocking that stabilizes the speed of the motor and getting a far more accurate 33.3 RPM or 45 RPM.  Its a very big and noticable upgrade to my 1Xpression.

But I agree with Wayner.  I wouldn't use it unless you know that it'll work.  Maybe contact VPI?  I'm pretty sure that you could do some damage to your motor if it isn't an electrical match.  It'll probably be an expensive mistake.

VPI makes some outboard power supplies.  They ain't cheap, but neither is anything else VPI makes.  They're priced the way they are for a reason.

If the input power on the motor is 3W or less, the Speedbox SE should work fine. What is the part number for the Hurst motor?

Which one? There are 2 speeds, 300 and 600 RPM.

The motor speed has nothing to do with it since the pulley size will compensate for the motor rpm, what matters is how many watts the motor requires. I have a Speedbox SE so I am very familiar with the specs. I don't think it will work with the Hurst motor but it really depends on the required input power requirements, nothing else. As I said, it will work with motors requiring 3W or less input power.

Hi Vinyl Addict,
Hurst label indicated 7.5 watt 300 rpm. 115V.
I love speed adjust function :duh:, may looking for diy motor controller
or isokinetic set instead.
Thank you everyone,  :thumb:

That's what I thought, 7.5wt. is too much for the Speedbox SE.
The Iso----- power supply is nothing more than an overly priced power supply. You could buy the Heed model if that's all you wanted, in fact that might be what the ISO----- model is, a rebadged Heed. He rebadges most everything he sells. The ISO----- does not adjust speed like the Speedbox SE does. I would be wary of buying anything from that company.
