2. The buffer has a set of fixed outs, the preamp doesn't
No, both sets of outputs are volume controlled, but it also has a set of fixed outs labeled as rec out. They are for headphone amps and recording anythingGary
Now, to find some used Dodd amps, and I'll be all set!
So the moral of the story is purchase a Buffer or and Pre and you'll be happy.
So the moral of the story is purchase a Buffer or Pre and you'll be happy. I did and you can too. This is not a paid advertisment
I have a beautiful set of 50 watt, Dodd Audio, mono blocks for sale.
Let me know if you have them in two months. Right now, I'm transitioning to a different pay system, and I don't get paid for the next two months (then get paid for all of March). Also, my listening room is still at the stud stage, and won't be ready for another two months.
So how are you guys incorporating this unit into your systems? Preamp processing or between a source and your amps?
Yes, between source and amps.
Don't you mean between the source and the preamp/processor?
Nope. I'm running from a DAC > Buffer > amp. Sounds incredibly transparent. I don't need no stinkin' preamp!!! Dave
But wouldn't you say you're an exception to what's the norm for most systems Dave? Afterall, you are a most exceptional individual. Cheers,Robin
I don't think that most systems really need gain to function well. Where purely passive volume controls fall short is their inability to supply current to the amp and drive reactive loads like cables. The buffer has plenty of oomph to do all of this. Of course I am talking strictly 2 channel not A/V.Exceptional can be either good or bad, so I'd say that you are correct in your estimation of me. Dave
I pretty much listen to anything you have to say with many many many grains of salt Dave. Cheers,Robin
