SOLD Living room quality Klipsch Heresy speakers FS
« on: 10 Dec 2009, 02:52 am »
I have a very nice set of oiled oak 1983 Heresys with cane grilles for sale - $380.
They are very nice, but won't work well in the basement bedroom due to height considerations, and they are too nice to just have sitting around. Give me a ring at 314-651-9396 if you want some horns. You can come over and have a listen.

One nifty thing about Classic Klipsch products that came with the WO (walnut oiled) finish is that if you take boiled linseed oil and 0000 steel, (remove grll cloth and put speaker on a drop cloth of course)
1. put a generous amount of linseed oil on the wood,
2. polish the wood with the steel wool (with the grain),
3. take a clean cloth and wipe off the dirt that has accumulated in the pores of the wood, the aged wood, the broken down steel wool and the dirty linseed oil,
4. repeat above three steps 2 or 3 times
5. apply linseed oil and buff out with a clean cloth
6. repeat #5 until the cloth comes out clean
You will get a spectacular finish on the wood that looks like the grain is a mile deep.
Re-oil with boiled linseed oil once a year or so to keep dust out of the pores.

It works with oak too, Ken.  I'm holding off on this in case the new owner wants to do a lacquer refinish, in which case they will have to lightly sand prior to lacquering.

BTW, I may need your expertise on massaging a pair of  Magnepan Tympany speakers at some time, Ken. They are pretty quiet right now...

For some reason the e-mail doesn't seem to be working inside AudioCircle???

Which magnapan model and what is the problem?  E-mail me at kenseger@charter.net.

Oops, I am a couple of months late for the speakers, they are already sold. I hope the new owner will appreciate the quality of the Heresy speaker and its rarity. Compared to new models, the old is classic and better.
