Anyone in the LA/OC area want a set? Free? they work although the crossover resitor could use a cleanup.

These were my 1st set,, 2 sets actually of these Acoustic Research loudspeakers back in 1970 when I was just getting home from being in the army. With a Teac reel to reel, a Garrard turntable, a Marantz amp, and a Sansui rear channel amp, I thought I had the best suround sound system going.

Cheers,
Robin

I'd love to hear a pair of those again. Unfortunately I'm across the country.  :(

My first high end speakers were AR5s.

Wow! You had a surround system in 1970?! Groovy, Dude!  I thought I was hot stuff with my Teac RTR, a Dual TT, Sherwood 8900 receive, and big Advents. I remember listening to the AR3a's thinking that the top end was quite nice.

My brother in law and close friend came back from Indochina with four Pioneer speaks and a reel to reel.  You reminded me of that, Robin.  Think he was over there round the same time flyin an evac chopper.  After I got thru with him he had Vandy 2C's all around and got all esoteric on his own adding a Pink Triangle table with a Souther arm.
