This excellent tube amp is an early PP150 that has recently been worked over by Peter McAlister and is in perfect working order. Bias controls and jacks on the side of the amplifier were added as well as dampening material to the power supply. All in all, terrific value for an extremely clean and fast, musical amplifier with power in excess of what 75W might suggest. It replaced 120W tube monoblocks and does quite well driving line source speakers. The 2 inputs on the front of the amp were replaced with flat black plastic caps. It has an industrial appearance. Matching McAlister PL10 preamp is listed on Audiogon as well. Review excerpts from
http://www.stereomojo.com/: "From the start, the McAlister PP150 impressed me as having the best attributes of tube amplification. It’s big, powerful and full bodied. Not tubey in the classic, Mac 240 way. You get bags of air and all the detail that’s present on your recordings. There’s fierce attack and wondrous decay. In other words, the McAlister has MOJO! The amp is near dead silent. By itself, powering full range speakers in the 88-90db sensitivity range, expect terrific but not unlimited dynamics, excellent control and slam in the bass, a delicate treble and full fleshed mids. Within its considerable limits, this amp ranks among the best, regardless of cost."
