Brian's Gallery :: Saurav's Gainclone

I've had this for many years, and for the last few years it's been sitting unused, and I'm trying to clean out some parts. I built this in an instrument enclosure I picked up at a surplus shop. I always planned to move it to a bigger / better case, so I didn't cut down any of the transformer wires (as the pictures show). I used it as a woofer amp for a couple of years, and it worked great. Recently I tried it as a full-range amp, and the gain is too high for my 96dB speakers - I get my normal listening volume with the preamp volume control all the way down.

This is a fully functioning amp, but I would suggest buying this only if you plan to clean it up a little - put it in a better chassis, maybe use better RCA/speaker connectors.

I think this is the LM3875, but I can open it up and get details if someone wants them. I used the recommended transformer from Plitron or Avel Lindberg, but now I don't remember what's in there.

Not sure what an appropriate price for this is... $100 + shipping maybe? If you're interested or have any questions, make me an offer.

Prefer to ship within USA or Canada, prefer Paypal, but neither of those are hard restrictions.

Hi,

Still for sale? What's the power output?

Yes, it's still available. I don't have any test resistors that can handle enough wattage to measure the power output. I measured the DC rail voltage a couple of days ago and that's about 37-38V (unloaded, so probably a little lower when playing), and from the LM3875 datasheet, that would translate to 50-60W into 8 ohms.
