Mine doesn't say what version so let's assume it is not an MKIII:

BC86 provides a convenient and effective solution for the reduction or elimination of power line noise. Simply plug the BC86 into a duplex receptacle or spare outlet on a power bar and it dramatically reduces unwanted powerline noise present at the outlet. The effect extends to receptacles, on the same circuit, up to 20 ft. from the treated receptacle.

The Mark III...
The original BC86 and the MKII had one slight drawback.  Occasionally a GFI would "see" them as a ground fault.  Fortunately this happened very rarely but the fact that it happened at all indicated that there was a problem that needed addressing.
Well, we solved the problem and improved the filtering at the same time.  The MKIII has double the filtering, and no printed circuit board - all hardwired.

Listen to our sample video (2Mb).
The noise you hear is the noise present in the powerline amplified by the device on the left of the screen.  When the BC86 is plugged into the line the reduction in noise is readily apparent.

Technical Information

4 distinct wide 'Q' filters covering a wide range of frequencies.
fully enclosed in a steel chassis for RF rejection.
filtering is cumulative with the addition of one or more additional BC86s
MKII - broader range of filtration than the original BC86
MKIII - eliminated PC board - hard wired - double the filtration of the MKII.

Thanks!
