Looking to add a sub for my Maggies  which will also do double duty in my Home Theatre in another room. Leaning towards REL Strata III. Any suggestions?

Hi Earl,
If you do a search on the Planar Asylum forum over on Audio Asylum you should get heaps of info. This has been discussed many many times.

The REL seems to be a big favorite on the Maggie forum over at AA. The ACI Titan get's mentioned often along with the Vandersteen.

I've personally never heard any of them, so I'm not making an endorsement.

Many here seem to like the VMPS, but of course, they require an outboard x0ver and amp.

I've got a Mirage that I was using with my modded 2c's. It's ok, but there's definitely better to be had. I bought on a whim. Since I changed speaker cable, I don't feel like I really need a sub now.

A fast and dry bass sub......nothing short of that would suit the maggies...make sure its not an over powering sub...you need just a hint of extra bass otherwise you will not be able to appreciate the maggies.

The VMPS Original subs are far better music subs than any of the REL's.  Just my humble, but informed, opinion.

If you have the space, build a dipole sub. It will be the best match for your dipole Maggies and dipole subs (IMHO) make the best bass there is.

Here is one example:

Agreed, dipole is what I'd do. Cross it over at 60Hz or so.
