Hooked up my new Tempest, but getting no sound
« on: 15 Jan 2004, 06:05 am »
After much anticipation, I received my new Tempest preamp today.  However, I'm not getting any sound (actually very faint sound when the volume turned to max).  Can anyone give me any ideas before I give Klaus a call.

My amp is the stereo Stratos.  I've tried the following:
(1) Changing cables
(2)  Hooking up my CD player to different inputs other than "CD"
(3) Trying a different CD player
(4) Plugging my turntable to the phono inputs
(5) Verified the fuses inside Stratos are not blown
(6) Made sure selector is on "Source" not on "Tape"

I'm a bit bummed since I was looking forward to hearing a bunch of new records I bought recently

Rajat,
I also have a Tempest. From what you had described, sound to me like you got a bad preamp. Call Klaus, I'm sure he doesn't mind at all.
Good luck.

Taken care of.  We had a problem with some wire,  that has been changed,
