Hello,

I am about to take the plunge and buy the AKSA 55 amp kit.  Although I may wait until the dollar has recovered somewhat against the Australian dollar.  

On the Aspen website, there is mention of US import tax, etc.  Has anyone any experience of this? How much is it?

This is tricky because it varies from State to State.

However, to my knowledge none of my CA residents have ever paid more than 5%, and quite a few have paid nothing at all.

You might be lucky - it might fly right through!

I wouldn't hold your breathe for the USD to recover against the AUD, that could take years or decades.  I don't think this is just a short term phenomena, it was more structurally related.

Thanks,  I assumed that it would be quite low.  I am very excited about building the AKSA 55 - my toroids arrived from Avel-Lindberg yesterday.  At present, I do not have a decent set of speakers for the amp, and am moving to Phoenix in August.  I'd like to buy the kit before then (maybe in April - I am having to juggle the concept of saving for a house deposit or the amp!).
