Usher design for a South Africa company, 7.1 music-theater system (Symmetrica arrays, dual powered subwoofers,Sardonyx center channel, S6 surrounds) with Cary Audio components - custom installation included for a Bethesda,MD customer, and new designs for a well-known NYC firm that has their work featured in many national magazines.  :thumb:

Sounds like someone has some money

I don't have money but I'm back to thinking about built in line arrays so I may be in touch

Glad to see you're keeping busy these days. :thumb:  Are you going to be able to post pictures of these custom jobs soon?

Sure - I'll post them as they are finished. The 7.1 system will be up soon. I don't post pictures of some projects because they are custom kit designs with raw MDF test cabinets - not too photogenic.  :)

Why did the 7.1 customer go with Symnetricas over Alexandrites or one of the other SEAS based arrays? Cost? I would think SEAS woofers all around would yield the best timbre matching...

Actually the matching is quite good and the Symmetrica was within the budget for the system. Voicing affects the timbre and I feel our integration of HT systems is a design forte.

The Illuminator MTM looks interesting. What tweeter is that?

It's also from the Scan-Speak Illuminator series. Very few neo domes can cross as low and this make it good for vertical or horizontal placement.

How does it sound in comparison to the Cima given the are using the same drivers in a MTM layout?

The Cima has the edge given that it includes the RAAL tweeter. The Trio-X is intended for systems where space is limited.
