To be honest, I'm more familiar with the AC-2, but I don't think they were all that different. They were designed by the same fellow (Nakatsuka?) who makes the ZYX and designed the Monster LOMCs, Alpha, Gamma etc. Very fast detailed carts, perhaps a little more full bodied than some of his more modern ones. Low output - .2mV, very low resistance. I think the cantilever was boron. It should be competitive in the $1K range. The Ortofon Kontrapunkt B is said to be quite good for that $.
