This is a cartridge that came out when I was on an audio hiatus. Course I was in college, and couldn't have afforded one of these beauties. Think at that time the best I could afford was a Sumiko Talisman IIIS. Well I have come across an AC1 that has a fresh Expert Stylus rebuild. Since the Expert rebuilds are highly thought of, and this one has documentation, I am strongly considering acquiring it.
Anyone have any opinions on how the AC1 performs, and might compare to a current production 1K price range cartridge? The AC1 would be installed in a Townshend Rock Mk III with a Rega RB251 with Incognito rewire and Riggle Engineering counter weight and VTAF options. Phono stage is a Hagerman Coronet 2 and Piccolo.

Thoughts/Experiences/Opinions greatly appreciated.

To be honest, I'm more familiar with the AC-2, but I don't think they were all that different. They were designed by the same fellow (Nakatsuka?) who makes the ZYX and designed the Monster LOMCs, Alpha, Gamma etc. Very fast detailed carts, perhaps a little more full bodied than some of his more modern ones. Low output - .2mV, very low resistance. I think the cantilever was boron. It should be competitive in the $1K range. The Ortofon Kontrapunkt B is said to be quite good for that $.
