Finally done with my SW-12B build. Originally I was going to use a basic 1.25 cu. ft. box with one brace, but Elemental Designs accidentally made a larger, better servo sub box instead with 3 braces, 2 front baffles and 2 back panels. Lined it with no rez and got it painted. Not the best paint job, but it was a learning experience. Using a 150W amp from an old sub to power it.
Started using it in my bedroom (12' x 12' room) setup, and will be moving it to my brother's office/studio this week. I think it took a little while for my amp to get the driver moving and broken in, but I've been very impressed since then. Bass goes deeper than I was expecting. My in room is about 20-25 hz, but I don't do measurements any more. I am more impressed by the sound quality even when driven by a very modest amp.
Nine Inch Nails "With Teeth" is a good bass test album for me. The sub has no problem keeping up with the quick kick drum on the 2nd track. Deep drum beats are provided with good punch. You can even hear drum reverberation, which is not something I've heard conveyed from many subwoofers. Bass guitar is tuneful and each note is well articulated.
Thought I'd give the SW-12B some love since the servo subs get all the attention. For my application this sub is excellent.
