Gentlemen,

Friday I picked up my new MAC C500 preamp.  Very nice indeed and a not-so-subtle improvement over my C46.  The C500 is a balanced design like my MC501 monoblocks.  Much larger soundstage and an improved bottom end.  Very nice indeed. Today my new audio circle buddy Bernie drove over from St. Louis for a listen.  He owns early model VR4s which have been updated and he has been wanting to hear what the fuss regarding the VR5 Anniversaries is all about.  Bernie is a tube kinda guy but even with my SS gear he seemed to like the annies.  You'll have to ask him for the details.  Anyhow, our 2 man rave was great fun and we both heard some music that we will likely end up buying.  It's different on the east coast...you walk a few blocks or hail a cab to get to a rave; here in fly-over land you drive 4 hours like Bernie did today.   Until just recently we had to make that sort of trip on horseback so it's all good.
