Pauls Cole -- Bass instruments yet a cappella
« on: 19 Nov 2009, 10:37 pm »
I notice when listening to the Carmen track on Paula Cole's "Postcards From East Oceanside" CD that is a unique recording as far as I know.

There is a sea of bass and mid-bass throughtout the sound and yet there is nothing in the mid-range which competes with her voice. Strangely, it sounds a cappella even though the bass never lets up.  The mid-range quiet between the vocal notes is quite noticiable.

In any case I really enjoy this unusual listening experience and wonder if there are any other reccordings done like this.  Also, the recording is excellent as there is perfect balanced synergy between the vocals and the bass with neither one excerting dominance.    8)
