Acoustic Zen Adagio Award

Since there is no shortage of awards associated with this board it seems ontopic to boast about my Adagio's TAS editor's choice award announced in Sept.

That review is from 2006 and the review that encouraged me to seek out and demo those speaks.

They dont have nightclub spl's, you listen to them the same way you would pair of Quads. At half the cost and more power they really are a bargain. They look great and the waf makes em an easy sell into the household.

hello james

If you are ever in Saskabush, drop by and you can do that. With an all Bryston setup i think its unique since most people like to get all flowery with amplication on these. The new 4Bsq/Adagio are like two peas in a pod and it's too bad this combo flies under the radar like it does.

James

Wow!!! I havent heard those but i can tell you he builds stuff to look visually appealing. In other words, they look nice there but pics dont do it justice, just like the adagios. You gotta seem them in person.

Those speaks have the same nom. imp and power rating as the Adagios but a bit more sensitive. What amp are you thinking of using?

P.S

see.... who says awards dont mean nothing.

If i recall UHF talked about them and they reminded me of my Kef 104/2 with the speaker config and ported front. That is what got the ball rolling, it took a couple years mind you to muster up the guts to drop almost 5k. for new.

Oic... no i was on summer holidays last year in Winnipeg. Went down to Advance electronics and to my surprise they were a dealer and had them on the floor.

Demoed with a full Mac setup. They sounded very nice and what i expected. I can see why people use tubes but when i got them home the Bryston gear sounded way better with the new 4bsq. And i am not just saying that. The 4B was very calm and collect with very nice dyanmic highs and lows that seemed inplace. Plus the solid state gear is easier imo to match with a sub.

When I talked to Robert the owner of the company (maybe he was just being polite) but he told me he has a number of customers using Bryston and Acoustic Zen speakers and love the combination!

Well that maybe but ive looked high and low for any Bryston/AZ combo and havent seen any. However that doesnt mean anything, and infact listening to it i am sure there are others who found this compatibility.

Great speakers. I've only heard with tube amps, ~100W. Very easy load, very musical and natural sounding. Long break in period. The perfect TL bass design is a great accomplishment.

Hi James

Ask Robert what speaker wire he uses in the Crescendo? He uses the Satori series in the Adagios.

P.S
Geez i hope you are not doing this becuase would rather spend 10K+ on a pair of speakers than come over to my house....  :P

MSRP is $14K James, but I would guess some sort of in-industry rate negotiating could be accomplished!   :thumb:

Yes I was being a little 'tongue in cheek' about the price. I was just wondering if they had gone up that much since werd bought his units or if that has been the price for a while?

I looked at them in the spring time and the price(same price) put the brakes on the upgrade. It also put the brakes me moving into a 7Bsq/14Bsq upgrade that i wouldve considered. But i am happy with my 4B/Adagio and i think the 14B would be too powerful plugged into the Torus for them.
