Thought on Heybrook TT2

Does anyone have any experience with the Heybrook TT2? What's it's history and it's place in the hifi circle? I have one coming.

I've had a TT2 (bought new) since 1986!
Currently using a Linn Ittok LV11 & Clearaudio cart.
It's a near clone of the LP12. (though with a very sturdy cast aluminum sub-chassis)
I've kept it all these years 'cause it still sounds very nice, and it'd cost a fair bit to improve on it's performance.
Several audio reviewers have used it as a reference IIRC.
Good Luck with it!

Thanks Don, do you have the external power supply? Where can I get one? Does Heybrook still support this table, do they still have parts?

The guy who sold me the TT2's keeping the Linn tonearm, so I don't know what arm to get at this time.....

No external PS. I don't know if Heybrook is still going, they were building loudspeakers until fairly recently though. Fortunately, Linn arms are quite plentiful. A Basik Plus or Akito would work well.
Also, the table is easy to adjust, unlike the Linn, it's done from the top.

I just got my TT2 today, I've  noticed there's a small black "rubber band" wrapped around the 33 1/3 pulley, but not the 45 pulley.

First I thought it was the residue from the old belt, uppon close inspection, It looks to be put on by someone at one time, not sure if it was put on in the factory.

So for the TT2 owner, would you look at your pulley see if yours have that rubber thing around the 33 1/3 pulley?

Then I don't know why it's there, it doesn't seem to affect the operation, the 33 1/3 is right on, the 45 is a bit slower than what it should be, It doesn't have a tonearm, so I can't test it.

How did you verify the speed(s)?

I use a strobe disc that came with my Ariston RD-11 Supereiur.

I took that rubber band off, it looks too be a piece of isolation from a 1/2" diameter wire. I think someone looped it over the pulley to "finetune" the pulley, or whatever the reason might have been.

After I took the rubbber band off, the 33 1/3" speed is off by the same amount as the 45 rpm. The strobe disc still show a "dot", but drift ccw.
