FS: TC2+ 12" DVC drivers
« on: 13 Nov 2009, 08:32 pm »
I have 4 TC2+ 12" DVC drivers for sale.  These were bought from Oaudio.com.  These are unobtanium these days and few drivers can compete anywhere near this price point.

The archive with T/S parameters:
http://www.oaudio.com/TC2_PLUS.html

These were never used, just stored in waiting.  Three are still in the box, one box was damaged so the 4th driver doesn't have a box, but I have something for it.

I finally confirmed my plans for subs and these are not in those plans, so I am regrettably letting them go.

These drivers still rank amongst the top performers.  Salk Sound used a variant of this driver, iirc, in their HT3.

I am asking $100/ea plus shipping.  They are like brand new, they've never seen a signal, not even a test tone.

Josh,

You must have some of the finest drivers in existence sitting in that house of yours! Wow!

These are very nice, I just looked at the T/S parameters and your price looks nice too.

Would be synergistic with a O-Audio 500w plate amp, sealed enclosures for each, a little boost on the low end and voila, Geddes distributed bass for a nice cheap price.

Bump for Josh!  :thumb:

Anand.

Yeah, I was considering doing just that, using the 4 in sealed enclosures spread about the room.  My plans changed somewhat I am doing the same thing in a very different type of enclosure (Tapped horns).

For shipping estimates, assume each box (packed individually) to weigh 20lbs, box dimensions roughly 15 x 15 x 14.  orginating zip is 07307.

Hmmm...  I might be interested.  Trying to figure out how small of an enclosure I could go with one of these, and what kind of f3 that would give after EQ using the OAudio amp.

I'll get back to you, if someone else doesn't snag it first.

Are you familar with unibox?   That is what I play with to model response/enclosure.   These, from memory, can basically reside in a cubic foot box and get pretty low with mild amount of EQ.

I've never tried unibox, although I have it.  I took a quick look with WinISD Pro, and it's giving me about 1.8 ft^3 box, and f3 around 35-38Hz with 3db EQ at 25Hz.  With a smaller box, it was showing a big hump up around 60-80Hz or so.  I need to play around with it some more, because that doesn't seem right.

I think I only have two of these, not three.   Somehow lost track.

I think I have to pass on these, as much as I'd like to take the dive into DIY.

Best of luck with the sale.

I'm interested in these Subs, do you think they'd be of good use in a car Audio system? What's the smallest box that can be used with them? I'm talking about the 12" subs, if they work well for me I plan to use 2 of them.

I know there were a lot of folks who were using them in car audio.  I have zero experience in car audio, I just know that folks generally make use the cabin gain thereby allowing the box to be otherwise smaller than it would if it were for home audio.

I'd need to have a profile of gain gain (generic or otherwise) to estimate a box.

The big thing is these have a copper shorting ring which lowers inductance and greatly reduces their distortion.  This also allows them to be used up higher which could be really beneficial in car audio.  The DVCs also allows for different configurations for best optimizing of amp power transfer.

Alright, I'm planning to use these in a 1986 Buick Electra, from the end of the trunk to the end of the dash is about 10 ft. Is there a way for me to calculate accuratly the gain?
