Upgrading CD reader for ripping

The CD-R DVD drive that came with my Dell desktop machine has stopped burning discs (but can still read them).

I see this as a perfect opportunity to spend money buying a new drive.

I've read here and there about dBpoweramp's decision to use the Teac DW244SL-R as part of RipNAS because the drive performed better at ripping.

So I thought perhaps this would work as my new drive for ripping.  However I am having a hard time finding the drive for sale and I'n not sure if it will even fit in the computer case.

I am also not sure if this drive will only work with dbpoweramp (which I woud be happy to try) or if, like my current drive, I could use it with EAC.

Does anyone have experience with this drive and/or has gone down this path?  Even pointing me toward 'drives for dummies'  would be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks.

David
