New TEST DISC Drum and Percusssion 24/96 Recording
« on: 12 Nov 2009, 08:14 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Please allow me to let you in on some very exciting news that is not directly associated with Enjoy the Music.com. After nearly two decades of being away from the recording studio I have released a new album! This solo venture is of drums and percussion and was recorded digitally in very high resolution with no overdubs and using only a pair of microphones. This recording was done using 100% battery power and all the usual audiophile standards. You can learn more about this on the website.

The new album titled THTST is now available for download in high definition 24-bit/96kHz FLAC, 16/44.1 or 320kbs mp3 format from HDtracks. After many years of hiatus this is my first venture back into the studio as it were and I hope you enjoy the music. Once you hear the album I welcome your feedback as there may be a follow-up that better focuses on certain periods or genre of percussion and drums.

You can purchase the album now by clicking the link on the home page www.THTST.com.

PS: The first person to guess what the album title means will receive a very special prize.

     Thanks and enjoy the music,

     Steven R. Rochlin

I know this is unrelated but. Steve thank you very much for introducing me to the Consonance Cyber 211 mono blocks. They are everything you said they were in your review. I have never bought a piece without an audition before. So for me it was a gamble. However could not be happier. Your review was spot on, keep up the good work.
BTW good luck with test disc.

A most humble thanks Charles. Yes, color me very particular and will always tell it like it is.

As for the album, i REALLY wish someone here would not be 'trigger shy' and try it.... even if it just the first and last track though of course the entire album purchase is 'cheaper' if you want all tracks. Seriously guys, i KNEW if i did an album, it was ALL me from engineering to playing of the instrument and it stunk i'd get it on all sides from audio guys to my drum/percussion buddies (and the drum guys are fearless in their critique, then again so are 'philes).

Please, someone, just try it. If you hate it that bad, if the sound quality is not to your liking lemme know as am SURE i'll make it right. Was totally retentive on the sound quality to the point it took me EIGHT HOURS just to find the right mic positions (and this is just TWO mics total mind you). As for the actual musical performance, shall let you decide of course. So please, pretty please, with sugar on a top and a cherry try it. So far those reviewers who have tried it have come away very impressed and hopefully a few print guys will publish reviews in the coming months. Of course you could wait, that's cool with me... but then you lose out on months of musical pleasure and truly hearing what your system is capable of.

Again, if you hate it that bad and you feel the sound quality is lacking (24/96), tag me via PM or e-mail ad i'll make it right. On the other end, you buy it and like it please let people know. Want both positive and and less than positive critiques on all things from SQ to my musicianship.

Be HONEST is all i ask.

PS: my 'make it right' offer is for the first couple of AC'ers who buy it and post their review here on this thread (or an the AC's Music Circle section). Seriously guys, i would NEVER release an album if... well... you know.

They say you are only as good as you most recent review. For me, releasing a music album is FAR MORE important than an equipment review and as the album is all me (engineering, recording, playing, etc) it was a VERY big risk on many angles.

So please get the album and let everyone here know how you feel about it. Heck, whatever it takes to get SOMEONE here to try it... how about we call it 'donating' a mere $15 for the over 15 years of work i have done in offering Enjoy the Music.com? Is it worth $1 a year to you (that is 0.00274 cents per day)

Steve,
I purchased THTST and downloading it now.  I think I am #56 on Enjoy The Music's signup list. :)

Will give it a listen and give feedback.

Thanks HAL and if i have your real e-mail addy can actually tell you what # you are. Am truly humbled how HUGE the Mailing List has grown over the years! Said from Day 1 to never rent, sell, etc the list and it has NEVER left my hands and never been loaned or pawned off, etc. You'd be amazed at the offers received to buy my lists and have turned every one of them down.

Truly do look forward to your impressions and please be totally honest both pluses and minuses. Just as manufacturers grow from an honest review, i, too, want to know what people like and dislike because if there is another album can then weigh in what people like and suggestions they have. ALL help is ALWAYS appreciated.
