speaker recommendations

I'd appreciate some input on some new speakers for my HT room(102x15). I'm looking to pick-up 3 front speakers to go with what I already have, and would like to keep it under 1K. They will sit on a stand around my 46" LCD tv. Obviously size is an issue since they need to go to the side and in front of the LCD on the stand. This system will primarily be used for tv/video, although I'm sure I'll jam some music too.

Right now I'm looking at stuff from Aperion, AV123, Definitve, and other similar companies. Any input you might have would be appreciated.

How about Ascend Acoustics?  Reasonably priced, good sounding speakers.

Those look nice, but 3 of them is over my budget. I'll keep an eye out for a used set.

What receiver are you using?  That's one long room if that 102 isn't a misprint.  Have you listened to Paradigm?  You should find a model in your budget and they are fairly sensitive.  Not a personal fan but you might also consider Klipsch, very efficient and wouldn't take much power to fill a large room.  I have heard the Mordaunt Short are giant killers.

Keep in mind when bringing speakers in from the internet that if they are of any quality they will need a break in period.  So to get a good listen in the return period let them play several hours.  I usually let new speakers play while I'm at work or if they are far enough away maybe over night at low volume.

What will you be driving them with?

Is your room 10X15 or 12X15?  102X15 is larger than my entire house.

I second Paradigm. I would also look at PSB and Dali. These three will play music well, not just movies.
