Bryston "like" Music Server
« on: 4 Nov 2009, 03:19 pm »
I was reading the "new products from Bryston" topic the other day, and the post for  Bryston to make a music server. So I thought you guy's might be interested in seeing pictures of the music server i built last year. i used this particular external case because it reminded me  of the original  Bryston 4B form factor.

This unit has Via ITX cpu/motherboard  with 1G RAM. It is passively cooled, using the heat sinks on the sides (no fans) . It boots from a internal thumb drive and has 1 WD Green 1TB SATA hard drive, The O/S is FreeBSD with the FreeNAS application installed on top. I have also installed Michel Herger port of the  Squeeze Center Service. It services 5 Squeezebox's throughout the house streaming WAV's, FLAC and MP3's effortlessly. I  was also using it as a video server for a while until I ran into disk capacity issues. All management is done via HTTP,  and it can stream media traffic at 70mbps all day long.

Please forgive my photography skills.
