Sellers but not Participants

Does anybody else tire of vendors who come to AudioCircle seemingly only for the purpose of selling their product?

They're not sponsoring the site.  Even if they have great expertise in an area, they apparently don't want to share any of that knowledge or don't want to take the time to participate in any other discussions.  They only want to sell their product without incurring classified ad charges.

If you question them or post anything they don't like, they insist that Moderators remove the post.

AudioCircle is a FORUM.  If you don't want anyone to respond to your topic, or only want responses that you approve of, I would suggest AudiogoN.com.  AudiogoN is a wonderful classified site designed to post ads without allowing anyone to reply publicly to the ad.

Larry, I don't think Steve is saying he doesn't welcome "participation" from audio industry professionals. He just wants "full participation", not just hawking of their wares without other meaningful participation...

There are many industry participants here on AudioCircle, some having their own circles and some not.

Most of these people go far beyond posting their business ads and offers, and freely and generously contribute and participate in discussions.  Many of them have a lot of expertise to offer, and I have learned a lot from these people, including how to tweek my digital music server, how to better orient my speakers, how to improve acoustics in my room, how to terminate cables and even tips on wood finishing.

Thank you for the information and thank you for making AudioCircle a great place.  These are the people I want to do business with.

Everyone has their reasons for being here.  The profit motive is not such a terrible reason.  There are worse things.
The audio professionals I know that are regulars here are for the most part pretty generous with their time and knowledge.
I didn't want Steve's original post to go unremarked.
