Niteshade Audio's one of a kind Blue Amp:

Every tube amplifier and preamplifier we make is a tribute to the positive virtues of tube technology. Tubes do not require bundles of circuitry to operate and were designed to perform at their peak  in a point to point wired environment. Blue, our latest Classic Series amplifier was designed with a circuit capable of a super-fast response time and very high resolution to demonstrate a new level of realism, of 'being there'.

Several different strategies were implemented with blue to make her a solid performer and easy to use. First, the driver tubes were placed very close to the power tubes. Short wire lengths guarantee low noise. Next, the power supply was placed far away from the amplification circuits. This is another step towards noise reduction. A choke is being used as a means of ripple rejection as well as high voltage regulation for superior clean power delivery. Our driver circuit uses only anode outputs and delivers a pure, balanced, high gain signal to the power tubes. Please take notice that our circuit uses a small compliment of tubes to greatly minimize signal processing. Music sounds considerably better when it doesn't run through an electronics maze.

For ease of use, we placed the power switch on the top, concealed behind the choke and installed the feedback control close to it. Tunable biasing and speaker impedance are located on the rear panel. Amplifiers should be easy to use and adaptable to your present system. Variable feedback makes integrating this amp into your system easy and flawless. Adjust it to perfectly match your speakers characteristics and your system will sound exponentially better than with an amplifier whose settings are unchangeable. Tunable biasing allows you to find the exact sweet spot of the power tubes. We calibrated this feature in the lab, but there a generous amount of adjusting room. A meter isn't necessary for adjustments and no technical skill is necessary.

Blue is extremely flexible regarding her tube compliment. Any variety of 6L6 (vintage or new) can be used as well as El34's. Power output is rated at 30 watts per channel conservatively. More power can be obtained with a 5AR4 rectifier tube. We designed this amp to operate the tubes gently. Tubes will last at least twice as long when operated in our amp.

Specifications:
Power output: 30 watts per channel into 4 or 8 ohm loads
Response: 20-20,000hz
Dimensions: 17x10x8 inches, 40lbs
Tube compliment: 6l6 or el34x4, 12au7 or 12ax7 x2, 5u4 or 5ar4 x1
Tubes that are included: 5881 x 4, 12Au7 x 2, 5U4 x 1

I am curious.  Weren't we getting some kind of user feedback a while back?  Did a tour happen?  Did an amp ever make it to a RAVE?

Do your amps just have a flat metal bottom or? Seems like they should have some sort of feet on them.

Please take a look at this page:

http://sites.google.com/site/niteshadeaudio/reviews-tours-evaluations

I will let already made equipment out for demonstration. It has to be paid for, but a full refund will be issued if it is returned. It would be irresponsible of me to just throw company equipment out there with zero accountability.

If by chance there's a rave I can personally attend, I will be more than happy to bring some things along. It's understandable not to think this way if you've never ran a business. I have been burned too many times by trusting people, even people I thought could be trusted! A considerable amount of money has been lost in the past.

NOTE: I have discussed this with others since it initially seemed like a great idea. It's a great idea as long as there's accountability by the individual for the product.

I am curious.  Weren't we getting some kind of user feedback a while back?  Did a tour happen?  Did an amp ever make it to a RAVE?

The amps do have heavy bottom plates with feet. My photos are taken in the middle of burn-in allot of the time. (A good reason to get in one more on-off cycle!) After burn-in, the bottom plates are attached and it's ready to go.

Do your amps just have a flat metal bottom or? Seems like they should have some sort of feet on them.

What kind of speakers will Blue work with? The good thing about thirty watts per channel is that there are very few compatibility issues regarding sensitivity. I would recommend a sensitivity of 90db and up. If you don't listen to loud music, speakers as low as 88db will work great too.

Other features:

Variable feedback: Provides perfect speaker compatibility.  Dial the amp in exactly to your speaker's needs. There is no guesswork and it is very easy to use.

Tunable Bias: Effective, efficient and easy to use. A meter is NEVER necessary to calibrate your power tubes. Find the sweet spot of your tubes quickly and easily.

Choke filtration: Provides excellent filtering and as a bonus, regulates the high voltage.

All of our amplifiers are point to point wired. There is no substitute for tube technology. Point to point is the best.

Blue was created to be the centerpiece of a high end tube-based audio system. Her finish is dazzling and the sonics match. Speed, power, realism and accurate sound staging are all here.  There is a company rule that's extremely important and is always adhered to: If I do not like how it sounds, it doesn't go up for sale. There are strict guidelines regarding sonics and design/build quality. It all has to make sense! Great sound and glued together innards isn't logical, nor is using high quality parts in a poor quality circuit. In most cases, an entire day is spent perfecting an amplifier's sonic qualities. It's very time consuming but well worth it.  Tuning is one of the most expensive steps in completing a unique amplifier. The same circuit cannot be used in every single design when other variables are constantly changing. If someone were to ask me why are amplifiers are so special, this would be the primary reason: We are dedicated to making each and every amp and preamp as perfect as possible. Each and every component has to work flawlessly with each other.

Everything at Niteshade Audio is completely hand made and receives personal attention to make sure it sounds fantastic. What can be done with this amp?

1] Either 6L6 or EL34 power tubes can be used
2] The amp can be tuned to exactly match your speakers
3] Biasing is easy and does not require a meter. It's easy to find the best operating point for great sound and long life.
4] Use your choice of either 5U4 or 5AR4 rectifiers
5] This amp is fully compatible with vintage tubes. Have fun with tube rolling.

There will be no problems loading up to either high or low (100+db to 88db) speakers. Horns to soft dome tweeters will not present any issues.

Versatility guarantees success within the majority of audio systems. It's all about having fun!

Blue is the beginning of a wonderful adventure in audio. Whoever the new owner is won't know how they lived without this amp. The feature list is long and impressive:

1] Thirty solid watts per channel
2] Tube rectified: either 5U4's or 5AR4's will work perfectly
3] Choke filtration. A heavy choke is used to help provide ripple-free DC
4] EL34 and 6L6 compatible
5] Tunable Biasing: Hit the power tube's sweet spot in seconds. No meters...ever!
6] Variable Feedback: Great for speakers with wild impedance curves. Instant compatibility.
7] Short wires in the signal path: Fast, fast, fast response time and low, low, low noise.
8] Commercial vintage Baldwin transformers: Unprecedented performance.
9] Custom circuit designed especially for this component mix
10] One-Day tune up time: Guaranteed 100% perfect sonics
11] Thirty watts per channel from 20-20,000 hz and LINEAR!
12] Plenty of reserve power, more so with a 5AR4 rectifier.
13] Point to point wired, expert soldering with ideal flow
14] A precision circuit designed to deliver the finer qualities of tubes without compromise
15] IEC Power Socket
16] Gold plated RCA's
17] 8 and 4 ohm switchable, 16 by request
18] Gold plated RCA's
19] Great for horns and revealing speakers. Much better than a Cary SE-1.  (A-B test completed)
20] Super for speakers down to 88db.

Impressive list. I could keep going! Realism is cherished above everything else. Transparency is key to revealing exactly what's going on in your music. My push-pull designs are brutally transparent, more so than many super-priced SET jobs. I believe tube gear is about getting the most out of your music. It can't be said any better than that.
