live in an apartment in the city, concerned with interference

Are there any easy ways to reduce interference from electric sources? (for example have aluminum foil surrounding my integrated amp) I am a college student with his first nice system, and I just want it to sound as crisp as possible. I am up for any unconventional, or otherwise considered cheap/ unattractive ways of combatting my issue. Also, is there anything I can do to protect my speaker wires from interference, or should I purchase speaker wire that has a protective shield? One last question, does anyone have any favorites when it comes to power management? I am just looking for a power strip that can reduce noise for ~$100

Are you having problems now? The only thing I recommend is quality shielded  interconnects and if you live next to a radio station transmission tower, shielded speaker cables (or keep them short) should be all you would ever need. I find that the cheap "noise reducing" power strips are just money reducing power strips.

Wayner- do you have any suggestions for interconnects?

Wayner

I like Bluejeans cables for quality at a nice price, and they are 12pf/foot capacitance with double braided shielding. Cable is made by Belden. See www.Bluejeanscable.com for interconnects and speaker cable. If your on a budget and looking for good quality at unbelieveable prices, see www.monoprice.com for other interconnects and speaker cable. Especially this one: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=2869&seq=1&format=2

Altho it's a surgre supressor rather than a pwr. strip, the Tripplite Isobars also offer noise rejection. The street prices are also a good deal lower than MSRP. I'll 2nd the recommendation for Blue Jeans cables.
