Hello James,

Thank you very much for sharing these reviews with me. I had to do a double take at the quoted price of $18,999.00 mentioned in one of the reviews :o

Thanks again :thumb:

Be well...

Hey James, would it be ok to drive a 1400 with a 4b?

Absolutely - they are 89dB efficient so in a normal size room you're fine.

James, do the Arrays represent good value as well as good sound?

That's a good question Dave. I had a very famous recording engineer over here the other day and he absolutely loved them. What's interesting is some recordings - like some of Bob Dylans old stuff sounds fantastic. Also I have a Reference Recoring 192K/24 I just downloaded of Carmen and it is by far the best I have heard it on the JBL's.

So I guess I am saying that depending on the type of room you have and the music you generally listen too they are really very good indeed.

Well, my current room where I have the Studio L890s is medium sized and is untreated at the moment. It does get a bit lively (I'm in an apartment) at high volumes.

I listen to jazz, blues, and the various sub-genres of rock.

Horns typically have a very directional polar response so they do very well in lively rooms because there is not as much reflected energy from the room surfaces.

Cool. Sounds good.  Can the Arrays handle high energy music just as well as softer styles?

The Array 1400's are great speakers.
Laundrew, what speakers did you have before you bought the JBLs?

You mean were...now that they're made in China (cabinets) and Mexico (drivers and assembly) forget it!

Vegasdave:
First of all, I want to thank you for many interesting posts on this forum.

I think you should stop writing that Mexico/China thing on JBL time and again, though, until you give us _bulletproof_ and verifiable documentation that it is the case.

You're welcome. There is documentation. Go here: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?27692-The-End-of-an-Era

I also spoke with a JBL employee about this matter, and I dunno if I'm allowed to give you his email address. I will ask.
