Could you take more pictures, or provide a diagram of where you sit relative to everything?

And you have no treatments now, just normal living room stuff?

Hi Bryan,I also e-mailed Ethan also.I basically sent you and Ethan the same picts
from when you would walk into the room going from the couch around the room clock wise.
Looking at this site and Ethan's got me going last night.
I had to slow down as I was ready to go out and buy insulation,Sono tubes,#703
ect.I made myself STOP, and thought it is better to talk to people who KNOW than to get overly excited and go in blind.
I truly appreciate any help from you guy's and hopefully with either pro built traps, diffusers ect or home built ,that she can be improved upon,Thanks again,Don

That does not look like a good room for all that gear.  The dimensions are not that good either.  Almost square.  And small.  To me the most important part of good sound is speaker placement, and it looks to me like those speakers are not ideally placed in the room, and there is too much stuff around them, between them.  If you could strip the room bare, maybe put the speakers across one of the corners like some people do with a near square room, and put in a small rack for electronics, and then a chair for listening, you'd be getting somewhere.  I guess what I'm suggesting is decoupling the HT from the 2 channel because the room doesn't suit it.  You obviously like 2 channel since you have a nice table and phono stage.  If you can't do it, then maybe you can do something with what you've got as far as speaker placement goes.  Move them out in to the room a bit.  And place them evenly from the side walls (looks like you have one speaker in a corner, and one two feet from the other wall).  But I can't see that making a real improvement.

This does raise a good question though.  Does room treatment help a less than ideal room with poor speaker placement?  Or does the less than ideal speaker placement, small room, square room, cluttered room, negate the benefits of acoustic treatment?

I admit she'sa bit busy in that room, the first picture is where I have my speakers now(each one opposite of the TV).I was thinking of moving the racks to the sidewall and just have the amps for the 3 speakers near the front wall.
I di chat with with a few people and with a few treatments I should be able to
get some improvement.
That's what I'd like to know if it can be done in a room size such as mine .

Is there so much stuff in the room that the exit door is blocked? If so, that's the ULTIMATE amount of stuff I could imagine!

I'm a KISS guy, so can't fathom the need for all that stuff (especially all that equipment).  And looks like plenty of speakers for the size of room (and I'm a "speaker guy").

Let those puppies (main speakers) breath!  (Get them out into the room.)

Seriously, loose the coffee table.

Decide if this is an audio or HT room the needs are somewhat different (looks like HT from the images).

Does room treatment help a less than ideal room with poor speaker placement?

Excellent question. Yes, the more bass traps in the room, the less that speaker (and listener) placement matters. I have a lot of bass traps in my 25 by 16 foot living room, and the bass is very uniform all around the room. I didn't even measure the LF response to find the best speaker placements, as I always tell others to do. Rather, I put the speakers where they need to be based on my screen and couch locations. (Not that my speakers are in a bad place, because they're about perfect by eye.)
