BCD-1 remote question
« on: 28 Oct 2009, 10:46 pm »
Hi folks

I am considering a Bcd purchase and i was wandering if the supplied remote has any usefull functions on my bda-1 and my bp25? I have always have  had  stand alone dacs and have wanted  an all in one player. this is obviousily the only choice considering the rest of my gear. I know this has been asked before but its too hard to pull archive questions.

thanx in advance

I like that, it makes easier to decide. What is the current wait time on a BCD?

James, would the BR2 work with the BP20?

Hi James, when you answer the question above, could you also kindly clarify the following:

1. Can an MPS2 support both a BP26 and a BP20/25 at the same time?
2. The BP20 is identical to the BP25 (except remote) correct?
3. Were any changes made to the BP20 during the course of its production? If yes, what were these, and which year(s) were they made?

The reason I ask is that someone I know is trying to sell a BP20 and I'm toying with the idea of picking it up...

Hi,

Yes the BR2 will control the older preamps BP25 with an address change.

1. Yes as long as you have the proper connection power cord from the MPS-2 to the BP20.
2. Correct.
3. Minor changes in parts.

Many thanks for the quick reply James. You mention that the BR2 will control the BP25, but will it also work with the BP20 (i.e. 'make' the BP20 into a remote controlled pre-amp?)

Re point 3, did these changes in parts have a material change in the sound quality of the pre-amp?

No sorry the BP20 can not be made into a BP25 to allow remote control.

The part changes in the Bp20/25 where for production and availablity issues not circuit changes so no differences in sound until the BP26.

Werd;

You will like the BCD-1.  I've had mine about 10 months now and it continues to impress me and anyone that hears it!  I travel a bit, 1 to 2 weeks at a time, each time I return home and crank up the system I'm astounded, just as I was the first time I fired it up
