I have available a RWA signature 30 integrated amp that has had the inside components upgraded to what is being used in the 30.2 version... (this does have the volume control) and optional remote control, so it does not require a preamp.
The Internal mods have been added by RWA........ "The Partial Upgrade" consists of performing all of the modifications to the 30 amplifier board to convert it to the new 30.2 amp board, as well as the new hard-wiring of the speaker outputs directly to the new point -to-point wired output filter components."
This unit still uses the original charging system, recharging begins as soon as unit is switched off.
