Since I've already exposed myself as a cheater, here's another five:

Rumble by Linc Ray

Wake Up Little Suzie by The Everly Brothers

Beep Beep by Bobby Valentino

Telstar by The Ventures

Louie Louie by Paul Revere and the Raiders

BTW: There has been a long time movement to make Louie Louie the "Official Seattle Song." I'm afraid I'd have to vote for "Seattle" by Perry Como

Best Regards,
TerryO

I'm going to be in real trouble for this:

The all-time anthem for the young:

Summertime, Summertime by The Jamies

And just for Halloween:

Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley

The Monster Mash by Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Cryptkickers

Love Potion No. 9 by the Clovers (They did it first, but there have been over 20 other subsequent  recorded versions)

Best Regards,
TerryO

Gotta throw in these two from my history . . Maybelline- Chuck Berry and Fever- Little Willie John.  I recognize a good many of what has been posted and get a kick out of the oldest ones like Patti Page and Rosemary Clooney (who could sing, no mistake) but it was R&B that was the youth music of my time and place.  Rock Around The Clock was probably the lone exception.  THAT swung!  And no sooner than I read Rockadanny's The Name Game from later in time if that damn song didn't start going off in MY head!  I avoided it as much as possible.  And then there was John Lee Hooker and BB King (I have a collection of his 50's hits on Virgin).  One of my mom's favorites that is a beautiful thing is a 78 of Walter Huston singing September Song.
