Another Torus Question
« on: 26 Oct 2009, 08:43 am »
Hello James,

I have another Torus question, which admittedly may be of only limited interest to most people.  I am currently living in Japan but own mostly US equipment (including my Bryston BP-25 and BDA-1), so my question is whether it is possible to buy a Torus conditioner configured to work as a step-up transformer, to bring my 100v voltage out of the wall up to the 120 volts most of my components want to see.  I am currently using a large Sanyo step-up transformer for this duty, but am sure the Torus would be better, if it is possible to get one configured in this way.

Thanks in advance for any information!

Best,
Stuart

Hi James,

The short answer is Yes, we can make this. This means that I must have a new transformer for the unit. I need answers to the following questions for making it happen.

1) This is an international model, 50 Hz, only the input voltage and output voltage are 100 V to 120 V.

2) Which power level is asked for? That is; what is the maximum current at 120 V out?

Thanks,

Henry Pajooman

James,

Thanks for the excellent news!  I'll be back in touch shortly with the requested power level.  Should we move this discussion from the forum to private email from now?

Best,
Stuart
