TacT/Lyngdorf... True Digital Amplifiers
« on: 25 Oct 2009, 07:26 pm »
Hello

My present config is the
SB3 - TacT 2.0S - Acoustic Reality eAR1001 Ref - Salk Sound HT3

I truly enjoy my TacT and the RCS it offers.

I am planning to move onto an Integrated or a True Digital Amplification.
Lyngdorf though seems great with all the automation and all but the lack of user defined target/voicing curves turns me off....

Can you please suggest me any true digital amplifiers ...
TacT M2150XDM (what is the difference between the X and the XDM models?)
TacT/Boz 216/2200 .... though extremely expensive.....a second hand deal is within grasp....

I am very much interested in the Room Correction aspect of this technology.

Thank you for reading and for your responses.

Regards

HP

Although there are certainly people here familiar with Tact Audio equipment, explaining the key difference between the various pieces could turn into a a long thread already explained on the Tact website.

This said, the Boz equipment keeps the power supply in the 216 pre-RCS unit and each of the amp modules are just that. It is designed primarily for an all active, multi-channel stereo configuration.

The XDM as a series VS. the X allows for Dynamic Room Correction which is explained at length on the Tact website. The 2.2XDM also includes Ambiophonic processing if you like (again Tact website).

The difference for example between a 2150 and 2150X is the on-board active XO. The difference between 2150X and 2150XDM is the Dynamic Room Correction.

I'd also suggest looking up the yahoo "real tact hackers" forum which serves as probably the best real time source of Tact information.

You may want to wait and check out the new NAD piece that is coming out with the Zetex based chip.

I was wanting to start a thread on this technology but you may want to check out the following links:

I understand and appreciate the disappointment with the lack of user-defined curves, but I have been enjoying my Lyngdorf TDAi2200 for almost a year now. To put this into context, I have gone through close to 50 amps/integrateds in the past 9 years or so, and very, very few have made it past three months in my possession. None have made it to six months. All types: tube (PP and SET), small SS, mid-SS, large SS, battery powered, ICE, Class D, Tripath, I don't think any type of amp has escaped my grasp (within my budget of course).

The Lyngy satisfies me. Besides being a great amp it's also a tremendous DAC. User curves? Yeah that would be nice but considering the big picture I'll take this hit. Mostly I use Neutral anyway. Note also that they recently added six new curves (but you can only retain six of the twelve total).
