Impressive musical instruments?

Which musical instrument has surprised or impressed you the most on your audio system?

I was most impressed with the Harpsichord used by Emilie Autumn in her CD "Opheliac." What I really noticed was the force used by the musician on the keys to strike the strings. The music felt very "solid" and yet at the same instance, very delicate. I have not heard reverberation this detailed before from any other musical instrument thus far. Another enjoyable facet this instrument seems to have is great harmonics. What really finishes off the performance is the utter silence between the notes after they have faded.

A Harpsichord, who would of thought!

Oh, that's a tough question!.... Since getting my 3B SST/2 everything sounds better.

I'm going to go with the gong, from ELP-Show that Never Ends, re-mastered version. I've never heard it sound so real before.

I'd go with a Mississippi saxaphone(HARP)or a nice drum kit(Gretsch)comes to mind,nicely miked up with a sound man that knows his stuff.
It's all fantastic if done right for the Music

For me is the Luteharpsichord, a beautiful and impressive sound instrument, it have the sweet sound of the lute with a bigger sound of an keyboard.

There is alway room for CELLO! This instrument has such a range. Its highs are so sweet and its lows there are no words for. The 7Bsq and BP26 have enhanced both immeasurably.

Next would be piano. I haven't heard the piano sound like one on a recording until now.

Ahh...yes, the Cello. Persephone uses this instrument a great deal. Hmmm...time to put one of her CDs in

The pipe organ for sure. and brass, especially the Dallas Wind Symphony on Reference Recordings
