how does a guys sync his itunes on a imac and mackbook air? if i make a purchase on one its not on the other. any insight would be great.

Download it onto your macbook air. It will recognize your itunes account and if you authorized your macbook air as being associated with that account the download will be free. I think you can only put the downloaded song on 5 devices, including your ipod.
