I really don't want to do this, but I have been out of work a while with a back injury and am getting very low in funds. I absolutely love this preamp, but I had to face the fact that it's probably the piece of gear I'd have the easiest time selling since it's such a sought after unit.

Dr. P installed a dedicated HT bypass option as one of the inputs, and it works whether the unit is on or off. It's under 2 years old and a lot of people consider this the best preamp you can buy for under $1k. When I first bought it, the only source I had at the time was a little iPod nano and some MP3 tracks. Even with such a simple source, this preamp made amazing music. I now have it connected to an outboard DAC, and it's just stellar.

Anyway, you can see it in the pic below (middle shelf). I'm asking $600 shipped for it.

Sorry to hear about your bad back AJ, hope you're back on your feet and working again real soon.  :D

Cheers,
Robin

Thanks, Robin :)  I've been holding off surgery for many years, cause less invasive procedures have been successful. This last one didn't take quite as well as I'd hoped, so I may be needing to go under the knife. It kills me to put this piece up for sale, cause I love it...but I have a McCormack MAP-1 that will be able to serve double duty until I can get back on my feet.

Thanks again for the well wishes :)

Big Red Machine

This will sell fast.

DON'T get vertebrae fused!!  There are plenty of alternatives.  See more chiropractors than doctors.  Chiros deal in healing, doctors deal in slicing and dicing.  Nothing more painful than a back injury as your spinal cord controls everything including your immune system.  Best of luck sir!

ajzepp

Thanks, Big Red...definitely don't want to be cut on!

I'm going to have a follow up MRI soon and see how bad things are looking. I'm pretty sure my lumbar vertebrae are fubar, but hopefully I can get some relief w/out the surgery.

And I hope it sells fast, cause otherwise I'm going to change my mind...lol  I've totally fallen in love with tubes, and as much as I love my McCormack MAP-1, it's not going to be the same as my Mapletree. At least this will give me an opportunity to buy from Dr. P a second time down the road, though, cause I love his stuff!

Okay, a couple people have inquired as to what tubes I upgraded to, so thought I better clarify:

I purchased a pair of 12SX7GT Dual Triode  RCA Canada NOS 1954 tubes from Tube World, and I paid $95. (This was in 4/08.)

Please let me know if you guys have any more questions.

I always wanted to try this one .

Do you know that is it voltage switchable?

Make sure you consult w/ a neurologist.....not an orthopedic surgeon, at least that's what we hear around the hospital.

Hi Greg:

I don't think it's voltage switchable in its current state, but I could always check with Dr. P and see if he can make that modification. If so, and assuming you wanted the piece, I could just ship it back to him for the mod and then have him ship it off to you when he was finished.

Let me know if that's of any interest. It really is a fantastic piece, and I'm getting close to putting it up on A'gon if nobody bites soon.

Thanks!

Thanks, I'm definitely going that route if I need surgery!

Okay guys, I lowered the price one time to $600 shipped, and I'll leave it there for one week before I put it back to $650 and list it on Audiogon.

So, if interested, please let me know.
