FS: KCI .5 m Silkworm ICs sold

For sale is my .5m (20") pair of KCI silkworm ICs. They are in perfect shape and sound absolutely lovely. Can also be upgraded to Silkworm+ for $300 ($400 with xhadow connectors) so you could end up with one ultra great cable and a new warranty for a lot less than a new plus version will cost you.

Only reason for sale is that my system just sounds better to me with copper ICs, and had I not changed speakers and digital source, these would still be my top choice.

Jim......what connectors were used on this cable? And how would you describe the sonics compared to the "copper" version you are using?

Hi Alan,

I believe they are silver Eichmanns, but I'd have to get some help to confirm that.

The copper cables I have are not KCI, but Chimera labs advantage II and they are just a bit more transparent in the mids and highs with the silkworms being ever so slightly warmer but still detailed, dynamic and very full sounding.

On other speakers I have had, the silkworms added that little bit of warmth they needed. Of course this is my system, in a small room, low to medium listening levels, and single ended tube amplification.

Alan,

Connectors are silver Eichmanns. Note that with other combinations of gear the Silkworms were clearly better than the copper and still dynamic, transparent and extended. It's just a system synergy thing, not a commentary on the silkworms in general.

Alan and all,

Well, my wife just let me know that the RCAs are gold Eichmanns, not silver as I thought. Serial number is 0070 if that helps anybody. I have a high-res picture for anybody who contacts me via direct email, and I also send one to John to get his opinion.

Sorry for the confusion -- my little electronic color identifier is horribly inaccurate sometimes - e.g., it often tells me that my jeans are black and that my hair is either green or blue, and while all that is certainly possible these days, for me it is not
