HD Radio .... How many use it and...
« on: 21 Oct 2009, 05:44 pm »

What do you listen to ?

This morning I was listening to FM 96.3 and "Radio Rich" was playing some nice Rock n Roll, I was most taken by how good the music sound thru my Altec 604's.

For years I listened to "Radio Rich's" program at work on a small Boombox or in the car. Now at home and listening was totally different.

So I had to call Rich and tell him how much I enjoyed his program and the quality of music. Rich told me their engineers do a great job providing the quality of music they put out.
Then he asked if I had HD Radio ? My answer No!
He went on to explain the quality of HD 96.3 was much better than FM 96.3.  Also KSHE HD 94.6 think he said ( KSHE has 2 digital stations).  Rich did all the programming for the second digital station, and used the finest of Rock n Roll media , non-processed music they could find.  That was what they used for this program.

So I'll have get a HD receiver and check the scene out too!
   Have fun!

Have to admit that my RadioIo feed at 192k played through my ModWright Transporter sounds pretty darn good.  This is their "Audiophile" service level.  Tons of channels, all kinds of music discovery.  It's a nice thing and sometimes really surprising given the data tells you it has quite lower resolution vis-a-vis CD and higher...

I have and occasionally use a HD tuner. I aquired a Sangean tuner . The KSHE feed sounds very good but some of the other feeds sound like mp3s. Despite the sometimes poor sound quality it is still a fun piece to play with. You can pick these tuners up inexpensively. Crutchfield was selling the Sangean that I have for $199.

What's everyones feeling about internet radio?

At work I have Radio Swiss Classical on alot: http://www.radioswissclassic.ch/en
A nice variety with some relatively unknown composers (at least to me) in the mix.

The sister jazz station: http://www.radioswissjazz.ch/en/playlist isn't bad either.

There's an info button, gives the option to buy (Download) also gives CD data to look elsewhere.

Of course this is all 128k mp3, but at work....

I have a hd radio hooked up in my system but i never listen to the radio the one local station thats was worth listening to hired a musical director / disk jokey who's choice of music IMHO sucks and who voice sends me up the wall  :duh: and the kicker is that hes on the time i would normally listen to the radio on the way home from work and after  dinner 3pm till 8 pm shift  :duh:

That being siad HD does sound good and i can pick up 9 hd channels from the antenna i have run to bad there's not a thing on. Im alergic to car commercials on the radio nothing will get me to switch stations as a punch of car adds. Or some Idiot trying to be funny in the morning Bitch bitch bitch did i say i don't listen to the radio. Darn i'm going tp spin an album

I have one but rarely listen as the content on the second and third channels in my area is disappointing. I much prefer internet streams where I can find stations that better match my listening interests.
