The pro's, this weekend!
« on: 17 Oct 2009, 11:40 am »
Football, that is.  New Yawk vs. N'allins.  NY better tighten up that defensive line (they will).  Of course, then they'll have to deal with Drew cool breeze.  Manning is good to the gun, tho.  Who's Denver got this weekend?  They gonna be 6 and 0?  Pittsburg will be there in the end, no worries.  Dallas has GOT to get it together this weekend.  Exciting season, ain't it.  This is why I got a 50" plasma this year.  The only other thing I've watched with the def of the NFL broadcasts is The Fifth Element and the HDNet channel.  Party, party!

I only have two things to say
Go Packers
and
Go who ever plays the Viqueens.
We can't afford to drop another one in the conference to the second rate house team the Lions half the family are Lions fans.

It's pretty interesting looking at the standings.  I never would have guessed half teams would be where they are now.  Good thing I didn't join a suicide pool.

Broncos have a history of surprising the best and losing to the worst. I've seen them beat a 12 win Patriots team in the same season they lose to a 12 loss raiders team. Exception is the Colts who always beat them no matter what.

This week is a Monday nighter in S.D. Don't bet the ranch on Broncos staying undefeated. And don't count on the Steelers making it to the playoffs this year. First place in their division is already gone, their injury situation keeps getting worse, and there are a bunch of potential wild card contenders shaping up. Denver has 5 wins in the bag and will be playing KC twice, the Raiders again and Washington. If they are at all for real, that's a 9 win season right there. If they can steal a couple of less likely wins like Pittsburgh, the Eagles or split with San Diego, then might win 10 to 12. Big question -- will they fade away in the end like last year?

The most compelling matchup this weekend is the Giants at the Saints.  This one might have home field playoff implications.  I'm a Giants fan but they will have a challenge in the Saints.  Good game.

Ravens at Vikings is another good game.  The Ravens have to be bummed at 3-2 but I think they give the Vikings a tough game and get to Favre.

Bears at Falcons Sunday night.  Another good game on paper but the Falcons win at home.

Broncos at Chargers Monday night.  The Chargers are almost in a must win situation and at home I believe they get the job done in a close game.

Think I'm taking the Chargers and the Ravens today to be victorious over the Broncos and Vikings, respectively.

(later)  Whoops, thought the Ravens were home.  Vikings.

I am pulling for Big Blue to quiet the Dome down and get a victory against the Saints.

Well, that first half was uglier than I thought I could be.  I'd like to see the Giants stop the Saints just once in the second half.  Dang.  The D-line can't even get a sniff of Brees.

Wow; the Saints are showing why it's called The Big Easy. :D  Talk about opening a can o' whoopass...

Can you believe San Diego let Brees go? :duh:  And how about Reggie; making his alumni Proud!!!  :thumb:

They sure are looking like the real deal.

Have fun,
Jerry

Man, the Saint's busted a beer bottle off in the Giants ass! But that's nothin' compared to the whoopin' the Pats are laying down! :o  Five TD passes in one quarter!  Holy smokes!  Guess it's a good week for whoever has Brady on their fantasy team!

I'm amazed that Brady's 6 TD's and 29 of 34-for 380 yds afternoon in the snow is rated less than Brees's 4 TD's and 369 yds.  After looking into it, the QB rating system gives Brees a better rating (156.8 vs 152.8...perfect being 158.3) due to his slightly better yds per attempt ratio.  The 2 extra TD's don't mean as much?  The caps on the QB rating algorithm are weird.

In any event, this Sunday's QB results are amazing.  Big Ben, Joe Cool, Brett, Brady and Brees.  Wow!  Rodgers wasn't a slouch either, but needs to get in line behind these five!  And Matt Ryan is waiting on deck.   :)

Who'da thunk the lowly Raiders would dump the Eagles?  Strange week!

So, does Pittsburg win today?  Ya gotta be excited by this one!  The hair is back.  Gimme Pittsbug.  No, gimme Bret's boys.  Ok, gimme a beer and a dog and let it rip!  Pittsburg, unless the angels still favor Farve.  Will Dallas continue to suck?  Fraid so.

Lots of lopsided matchups this weekend. Pray for upsets.

I'm grateful that this is the second week in a row that the Broncos absolutely will not lose on Sunday. Last week was MNF and this week is a bye. Next week  probably spells the end of their winning streak in Balmer.

If they somehow beat the Ravens, I think they'll earn a first round bye. I can't hope for anything more than that though unless Peyton can't play in January.

Oh my, wasn't Arizona impressive.  Couldn't see the Pittsbugh game where I am but they looked tough in the highlights.  And Dallas looked good, also, for a change.  They're only a half game behind the Giants now.  You New York fans look worried.  And maybe you should be.  If the Pokes can keep it consistent, that is.  And how bout them Bengals?
