For some Reason The BCD-1 does not want to play 1 CD out of the 2
The CD is called The Spinners a one kind of love affair. The anthology

DISK 1 the BCD-1 does not see the CD ?? The BCD-1 is trying to read the Cd and then goes to Error?.
When I advance the CD to next track Next Track I get Error as well on the BCD-1 Display

DISK 2 works Great

I tried the 1st CD in My NAD Cd_Player and it Works Fine?.

Any Help would be Great

Hi Robert,

The BCD-1 is a REDBOOK 'only' CD player (for design reasons) and some CD's have a DATA track (pictures/video etc.) on the first cut. A REDBOOK only CD Player will not see the DATA track on start up.

Hi Robert,

If the CD has a DATA track it will NOT play on a REDBOOK CD player.
If it played before then there must be a problem with track one - maybe needs cleaning?

James, Nancy Tells me it used to Skip the last 2 tracks on Disk 1 ....
is there some kind Recognition Software that is loaded in the BCD-1 that will detect a problem with the Cd ?

Thats why I ask the question why would it play in my Nad C542 and not the BCD-1

Hi Robert,

Different drives and error correction software will handle different discs in different ways so you may get slight performance differences from player to player.

I usually find a good cleaning will usually help improve the playback.

Hi Robert D,
between all my CDs there are only three which has the same problem.
Aftre loading if you press play it will display error. These discs are describe as enhansed and contained a run up program. In my case is iTunes. You can try to load the CD on your computer and see if there are other files than audio.

If of any help to you.....

CD's play from the inside out.

So track1 is at the center.

I believe that prior to track one is a "track" that holds time data for the disc - This part I dont fully understand how it works BUT damage to this part of the disc will cause errors.

Others may be able to help more or correct me.

Take care,

Andy.

At the beginning of each CD is a TOC or Table Of Contents. If this is damaged, the player will not know where to find and index the beginning and end of each song selection. CDs are susceptible  of manufacturing defects as well. Examine the disc for surface abrasions. The aluminum that is vapor depositioned to the polycarbonate may also have a flaw in it, but that really was an early days QC problem. Hold the CD up to a bright lite and see if there are pin holes thru the read layer at the center. Does the CD play in your computer?

If your computer can read the CD you might try making a copy and see if the BCD-1 will read the copy.  I have a couple of CDs in my collection that have scratches such that they create playing problems with my primary CD player.  However the CD drive on my computer is able to read them fine and likewise make good copies.  These copies play fine on my CD player.  This will only work if the source of the problem is a physical defect or damage to the CD itself.  I've owned a number of CD players in my life and have learned that some are much more tolerant of damaged or scratched CDs than others.
