Would you all tell about various methods to get a center channel speaker to match timbre with the mains, other than simply having the speakers be identical? What eq tools are available for this? There are some receivers and av processors that have room correction built in, but I would like to hear about the ones that work well for timbre matching. I'm also interested in stand-alone eq systems, especially pc based, & I'd like to learn how well they work to achieve timbre matching between dissimilar speakers, and how different the speakers can be to still match well enough after eq.
For me, the more specific the detail in instructions and references, the better.
