CHIME and CORNET2 "Silver Editions" Now Available

Due to demand, I am re-issuing these two machines in fully assembled form.  Parts have been upgraded: 1% metal film resistors, audiophile capacitors, connectors, etc.  The faceplates are new, which give a very nice updated appearance.  These look much nicer than I expected.  Limited production run, so get yours now!

www.haglabs.com/cornet2.html ($1199)
www.haglabs.com/chime.html ($1999)

You can order from either website.

Very nice looking reissues.  I would be very interested in a Hagerman tube DAC but only if it supports multiple formats including 24/96 and others, plus multiple input selector including USB.  A Hagerman piece that supports these would certainly be a top contender in its space.

I'm curious, how many people here have music libraries in 24/96?  Am I the only one still playing regular CDs?

I have libraries of 48, 88 and 96 bit WMA and FLAC files from various sources such as Linn Records, as well as files digitized from vinyl.  Not happy playing them from my sound card.  I'm looking for a sensibly priced tube DAC for music server, and a piece to upgrade my aging CD player.  Hagtech was where I looked first due to good experience with its DIY kits.

I'm not in the market right now and I didn't want to threadcrap, but now that it's mentioned.  I'd want a DAC to decode up to 24/96 ideally.  If we were dreaming you have a spare $10,000 for licensing HDMI to storm the audiophile DAC market with an HDMI capable DAC that would also decode DSD/SACD, I believe it's a market niche that is ready to be filled, you'd be a hit!  Everyone is ready for a affordable DAC for their Oppo player, but with HDMI the economy probably isn't there yet...

My collection goes up to 24/48 currently.  I still play and acquire plenty of CD quality material, but get DVD-Audio or SACD when I can.  I have more 24/41 material which is from HDCD encoded CD's extracted using "HDCD.exe".  My Squeezebox Duet receiver can play up to 24/48.  Logitech just released the new Squeezebox Touch.  The Touch and the Transporter can play up to 24/96.  There's probably a pretty good installed oppo fanbase playing back DVD-Audio.  Most of my needledrops are 24/96.

FLAC format does a good job of scaling between different bit and sample rates.

If I had spare cash I would jump on the Neil Young Archive Blue Ray's and some kind of player for the hi res material.

Personally, I have no 24/96 at the moment. This may be due to my musical tastes though.

I have maybe 300 CD's, 97% redbook.  I have maybe 5-6 SACD's.   I do have ~3,000 LP's, 95% mint and loaded with MFSL, Nautilus and newer 180-200 gr pressings.  This is why I have the killer C2/Clarinet combo.

I wanted to build the Chime, but I hesitated because it would not do SACD's nor safely fit on the dashboard of my Chevy.   :(

Umm...I only have redbook CDs.  About 150 or so, but I have maybe 5000 LPs so for me I just want that USB capability so I can make compilation CDs from vinyl for the car.  Well, I am over 50.

I am thinking a Chime would better than what's built into my CD player and am toying with the idea of building a maxed out kit and then I can work on a really good transport.

It never really occurred to me until just now that my Oppo DVD player will do SACD so I guess maybe I should give it a try.
