Custom tube cage / covers?
«

Searched around and not having a lot of luck finding a solution and suspect the experienced tube folks around here may have some ideas. Have 3 little ones running around the house and looking to find a solution to have a custom cage built for a Cary amp (CAD-211 FE mono's). These amps are 5-6" too deep to fit in my current rack system (and most rack systems given their depth) and so whether in the bottom rack shelf or free standing have the same issue. Would greatly appreciate any ideas!

I'm in a similar situation, but only one little monster, and I haven't been able to find anyone that builds/sells custom tube cages. I'm building some DIY tubes amps and I did find this:

I emailed the guy that built it and the cage is actually a basket the guy picked up at Home Depot. He cut the handles off and made it into a tube cage. He said you can find great stuff at Home Depot and office supply stores. Best of all, total cost = 6 bucks!

Been there, thought about that. The cheapest solution seems to be a metal mesh pen/stationary holder from an office supply place, target, or ikea. Fine something that fits and then paint to taste.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll dig around and look for different basket options, including the home depot solution. can probably cut off one end to accommodate the depth of the Cary and smooth out the edges. Just need to mount in a chassis friendly way

Maybe a variation of the ideas here in this link.
