Agreed.
May be I can convince Melody to go through with this option. 
I know it would take a fair amount of redesign (new PCB, relays, LEDs, IR receiver, volume control), but it would be far less than what a receiver/processor manuafacturer has to do, jumping through major technical hoops to redesign on a nearly yearly basis.
The integrated amplifier inherently can have a very long model lifespan.
