How do you protect your equipment while shooting that. Ziplock bag?

All that dust comes from the Australian desert(s)? I'm sure this doesn't happen all the time - I saw a picture with the OPera house in an orange haze - but how often would this occur? Does it affect everyday life on a routine basis, or long-term plans?

All over Australia blonde people flipped their locks in front of cameras and intoned "Blood has been spilled on this night!"  But seriously - Wow, that is awesome stuff! Er, to look at that is.  If that happened here I would have to call in sick just so I could go out and shoot.  How often do you get that kind of light without Photoshop help?

Oh my, there was a picture on Yahoo of central Sydney, I think, and it looked just like that. Incredible.

Fortunately this is very uncommon... I personally cannot remember it ever happening before. It wasn't just Sydney though (we're just the most important :D ) - pretty much the whole east coast of NSW and inland a few hundred k's was affected. I read in the paper today that the dust cloud is about to blow into NZ.

I sure hope this is not going to be more common in future...!
